Impact of Hacking, Indodax Claims to be Conducting Digital Forensic Tests

JAKARTA – Indodax CEO Oscar Darmawan stated that they are currently conducting investigations forensic tests related to the alleged hacking and cybercrime against the cryptocurrency transaction system on their platform.

“We are still conducting forensic tests to ensure the system is secure first and then we will reactivate the system. The members' assets are 100 percent safe,” Oscar said in a statement to VOI, Thursday, September 12.

Meanwhile, officials from the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), including Bappebti Head Kasan, stated that they have summoned Indodax to provide clarification regarding the hacking incident.

“Coordinating with Indodax. We have also summoned Indodax to request clarification regarding the case. Currently, Indodax is in the process of investigating the system that is suspected to have been hacked,” Kasan explained in a written statement.

Kasan also explained that Indodax is currently shutting down the system to ensure all systems operate properly. Therefore, Bappebti urges the public, especially Indodax customers, to remain calm and not panic.

Based on VOI's observation, until now the Indodax website is still inaccessible and maintenance is still being carried out. Oscar has not yet replied when the Indodax website will return to normal.

Meanwhile, at a different time, Director General of Informatics Applications (Aptika) Hokky Situngkir acknowledged to the media that the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is continuing to carry out its duties and is still waiting for further instructions.

“Of course, we are doing what is necessary regarding the duties of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, especially Aptika. We are still waiting for instructions from our leaders, because it just happened yesterday,” Hokky concluded.
